Accurately measure and display the amount of heat flow through building elements and their U value easier, quicker and cheaper than ever before.
What used to take several days and specialised and expensive equipment can now be achieved in minutes with just an iPhone and FLIROne® camera using the patented and proven HEAT3D technology!
Used by building surveyors, architects, insulation manufacturers, building refurbishment companies, University Architecture and Building Management departments ( as a teaching and research aid), Energy companies, Councils and Government Research Establishments, Energy Performance Assessors and Heating and Ventilation (H&V) companies as well as folks at home who want to better assess their homes energy use and ways to save on it.

HEAT3D uses an innovative and proven development of a quantitative internal infra-red thermography method, combining two new and inexpensive technologies to provide a low cost handheld instrument offering a quick and highly visual 3D measurement of the heat flux value through a building surface in watts, along with its U value. HEAT3D doesn’t just measure the IR temperatures, it measures the actual heat flow in watts flowing through each part of the surface. These measurements can then be used to provide accurate input for before and after measurement and comparison of U values during refurbishment of existing buildings to improve insulation, and to check a new building’s performance meets predicted/designed U value expectations, provides the expected return on investment and meets future domestic EPCs (Energy Performance Certificate) requirements.
The 3D models also capture the room dimensions (wall areas, heights and room volume). GPS location, orientation, date, time and local weather conditions can also be captured at the same time. All associated data can be saved, shared and viewed again later.
You’ll need a FLIROne® camera and an iPad or iPhone with an A10 or better processor to support the AR features and a lightning connector for the FLIROne. Please see the iPhone and iPad model compatibility list below. We would recommend using the FLIR One Pro if possible, it will produce more accurate measurements and with higher resolution.

The HEAT3D technology has been researched and developed for 3 years. It has been successfully tested in over 24 buildings of varying construction and age and shown to provide the same level of accuracy for heat flow and U value measurements as the very expensive and time consuming ISO 9869 standards approved HeatFlux plate method.
