BW Map Mobile

BW Map mobile brings onboard topographic maps of Baden-Württemberg in scales of 1:10 000, 1:50 000, 1:200 000, 1:500 000 and 1:1 Mio to an iPad or iPhone. The most important features are 3D- and Augmented Reality functions, interactive Points of Interest und a selection of hiking and bike trails. The free application includes an initial start credit that allows map material to be tested.

BW Map mobile is a product of the State Office for Geoinformation and Land Development in Baden-Württemberg (LGL). A flatrate allows access for 1 year to topographic maps with contour shading, 3D-presentation and Augmented Reality (enhanced features). The maps are stored in the device memory, enabling terrain orientation without cellular net use. The Points of Interest are visualized by layers that can be shown or hidden as needed and have links for more information such as opening hours or admission fees. More functions include a street name search, place and mountain names, map orientation in walking direction (moving maps), track drawing and recording (GPS).
The free application uses the open data service “Maps4BW”. A special feature offers building addresses.

Downloaded maps remain on the device until the application is uninstalled.
Requires an iPhone 4 or newer, recommended device memory is 64 GB.

Continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life.
